THE FOG
The Fog” is a 1980 American supernatural horror film directed by John Carpenter, who also co-wrote the screenplay and composed the music for the film.
The story is set in the fictional coastal town of Antonio Bay, California, which is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary. As the festivities approach, a mysterious and eerie fog envelops the town, bringing with it vengeful spirits of mariners who were wronged a century earlier.
The ensemble cast includes Adrienne Barbeau as Stevie Wayne, a local radio DJ; Jamie Lee Curtis as Elizabeth Solley, a hitchhiker; Tom Atkins as Nick Castle, a resident who picks up Elizabeth; Janet Leigh as Kathy Williams, a town organizer; and Hal Holbrook as Father Malone, the local priest who uncovers the town’s dark secret.
The film’s atmospheric tension is heightened by Carpenter’s own musical score, which complements the eerie visuals. Upon its release on February 1, 1980, “The Fog” received mixed reviews but has since gained a cult following, appreciated for its moody ambiance and classic ghost story elements.
