HALLOWEEN 2007

On Halloween night in 1990, in Haddonfield, Illinois, ten-year-old Michael Myers—already showing signs of severe psychopathic behavior—commits a brutal series of murders. He kills school bully Wesley Rhoades, his older sister Judith, her boyfriend Steve Haley, and his mother’s abusive boyfriend Ronnie White. He spares only his infant sister, Angel. After one of the longest trials in Illinois history, Michael is found guilty of first-degree murder and is committed to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium under the care of child psychologist Dr. Samuel Loomis.

Initially cooperative, Michael is regularly visited by his loving mother, Deborah. However, over the next two years, he grows increasingly withdrawn and dissociative, developing a fixation on making papier-mâché masks and cutting off communication with everyone—including Deborah. After he kills a nurse in front of her during one visit, a devastated Deborah takes her own life.

Fifteen years pass. Michael remains silent, continuing to create masks and showing no signs of progress. Dr. Loomis, who has long attempted to treat him, eventually gives up and closes Michael’s case. Soon after, Michael escapes Smith’s Grove, murdering guards and staff during his breakout. On the run, he kills a truck driver to steal his clothes and begins his journey back to Haddonfield.

On Halloween night, Michael returns to his now-abandoned childhood home. There, he retrieves the kitchen knife and Halloween mask he had hidden under the floorboards the night of the murders.

Meanwhile, teenager Laurie Strode prepares for Halloween with her friends, Annie Brackett and Lynda Van Der Klok. Unbeknownst to her, Michael has begun stalking her from a distance. That evening, Lynda and her boyfriend Bob Simms visit the old Myers house, where Michael kills them both. He then heads to the Strode residence, where Laurie is babysitting young Tommy Doyle. There, Michael murders Laurie’s adoptive parents, Mason and Cynthia Strode.
