Jimmy Gambino had a weakness — gambling. While other kids were in class, Jimmy was at the track, eyes glued to the horses, learning the odds instead of his lessons. By night, he haunted smoke-filled bars, betting on anything that moved. Eventually, he turned his obsession into a business of his own — a small-time bookmaking operation. But Jimmy’s addiction never let him get far. He was always one bad night away from ruin, and his refusal to ever turn down a bet became the stuff of local legend.

That reputation caught the attention of Larry “Finger” Vatelo, a notorious mobster and made man. One evening, Larry approached Jimmy with a wager — a massive bet on a long shot in an upcoming boxing match. Jimmy knew better than to mix business with the mob, but his pride wouldn’t let him back down. He took the bet, shook Larry’s hand, and sealed his fate.

When the underdog went down in the fifth round, so did Jimmy. He fainted where he stood.

By the time he came to, it was too late. Larry and his crew were waiting, ready to collect their winnings. But Jimmy was broke — completely cleaned out. Larry didn’t take kindly to excuses. He decided to make an example out of the man who never turned down a bet.

That night, Jimmy Gambino was chopped into pieces, wrapped in cellophane, and sent to sleep with the fishes.
